Description
I made the sculpture with spaces by imaging rooms in buildings. I made all the parts of the sculpture from zelkova (keyaki) timber, and assembled them by arranging grain.
I tried to make it with spaces, which reflect solid beauty under soft and indirect light or natural light in rooms coming in through windows or shoji screens. Therefore, the work is not the one to be enjoyed under strong direct light or spot light. Soft light reflects also through spaces among parts in the sculpture.
The view from the top will seem to be rose pedals. Some parts of the inside will seem to be roofs in the air or corridors.
